Winter Overflow Shelter

 December 1 – March 31

This vital ministry provides persons experiencing homelessness a meal and a warm place to sleep, and we are honored to be a partner with City with Dwellings in this effort. Centenary furnishes transportation from the check-in site to overflow shelters on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings.  We are in need of drivers and ride-alongs.  Ride-alongs help with boarding the busses and serve as an extra pair of eyes for drivers.

Children & Youth

Scripture Readers

Children and youth third grade and older are invited to read scripture in all of Centenary’s services on the second Sunday of each month.  For more information, please contact any of Centenary’s ministers or Stacy Holley (336-724-6311 ext. 1359/sholley@centenary-ws.org.)

Samaritan Ministries

Samaritan Ministries is one of our local homeless shelters and was founded in part by Centenary members. In addition to its men’s shelter, Samaritan offers a soup kitchen and special programs for recovering substance abusers and the mentally ill. Centenary members support Samaritan in many ways, but as a church we are committed to sending 6 overnight volunteers to staff the shelter and extend hospitality to its residents on the 2nd Friday of each month. To learn more, contact

Tom Lawson, or click here to get details and sign up to serve.

Communion Assistants

On the first of Sunday of each month, we celebrate the sacrament of holy communion at our three morning services. During the 11:00 am Traditional service, we have opportunities for laity to be involved as communion servers. If you would like to assist in serving holy communion, please visit centenary-ws.org/sign-up or contact Jauna Jasinto at (ext. 1300)/jjasinto@centenary-ws.org.

Thrive: Women's Retreat

Registration has exceeded expectations.  We will accept names for a waiting list beginning Saturday, January 18. No payment is required to add your name to the list. Registrants on the waiting list will be notified of retreat openings by January 29.

February 28 - March 1, 2020

This year’s retreat will be informed by a personality profiling tool based on the Enneagram.  The Enneagram is about people -- how we are the same, how we are different, what makes us tick, how we get in our own way and how we develop our connection with the Divine.  It describes nine fundamental personality styles, each of which has its own internal logic, strengths, talents, and advantages, as well as limits, pitfalls, and blind spots. As we begin to recognize our own patterns of behavior, it helps explain why we behave the way we do. Using the Enneagram as a tool, we will gain insights into our spirituality, our blind spots and how to nurture our relationships. Using the teaching and ministry of Jesus, we will explore how understanding each of the nine styles can lead us to a more authentic and full life.
