Lesson and Carols

This is a special evening service held annually at 5 pm on the third Sunday of Advent celebrating the season through readings and song. The Chancel Choir and an orchestra made largely of Winston Salem Symphony members provides the main musical leadership for this service, with offerings by many of the other choirs including the Carillonneurs, Cantus, and some of the Children’s Choirs.

All Saints' Vespers

This special evening service is held as a remembrance for all of the saints who have gone before us. There is always a love offering taken up at this service for the Joshua R. Hudson Memorial Scholarship, in memory of Josh Hudson a choir member and student at UNCSA who died in an automobile accident in 2006.

Tenebrae Service

The Seven Last Words of Christ - This annual service is held at 7:00 pm every Good Friday and features a musical setting of Seven Last Words of Christ. This service is a moving telling of the final hours of Jesus on the cross and has been held here at Centenary for over forty-five years.
