The Organ of Centenary
The beautiful pipe organ of Centenary was designed for the newly constructed sanctuary and installed in 1931. Built by the Austin Organ Company of Hartford, Connecticut, a premiere organ building firm of the time, it was refurbished in 1963 and received new additions in 1987 and 1989 as well as in 2010 with a new console and solid-state system. Composed of four manuals with pedals, 51 stops, and 3209 pipes, this majestic instrument is heard in glorious worship and inspiring concerts, resounding to the glory of God through vast arrays of sounds, from the ethereal beauty of strings, the gentleness of flutes, vibrant organ choruses, and powerful reeds such as the trumpet en chamade which extends into the choir loft space.
