Friends for Fashion
Tea & Runway Show
On Saturday, February 23, we celebrated the 13th annual Friends for Fashion Tea and Runway show to benefit Love Thy Neighbor. This important ministry helps us build relationships with our downtown neighbors as we provide a warm meal, medical clinic, and loving relationships.
On Sunday, February 17, after many years of planning, praying, development and discernment, we officially kicked-off the renovation for the Transformation on Fifth. The wall breaking/groundbreaking was surrounded by prayer and sledgehammers. May this journey find us ever faithful to our vision and mission.
On Sunday, February 10, within our worship, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of scouting at Centenary. We thank our scouts, Troop 920, for helping to lead us in our time of worship.
On Monday, December 24, we celebrated with great anticipation the birth of Christ at four worship services. May the birth our Savior, Jesus Christ, instill in all of us peace, now and always.
Fourth Sunday of Advent
On Sunday, December 23 we celebrated the fourth Sunday of Advent as we anticipated the birth of Christ.
Third Sunday of Advent
On Sunday, December 16, we celebrated the third Sunday of Advent by lighting the Advent Wreath, welcoming new members, beautiful worship, and our Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. We look forward to continuing our Advent worship as we make "Room in the Inn" for Christ.
First Sunday of Advent
On Sunday, December 2, we celebrated the first Sunday of Advent with the lighting of the Advent Wreath, welcoming new members, engaging worship, celebrating holy communion and sharing a meal with our neighbors at Love Thy Neighbor.
On Saturday, November 3, we ran the Mission 5K to help support Samaritan Ministries. We even got to stretch a little bit with Cow from Chick-fil-a. Way to go runners!
On Sunday, October 21, Centenary celebrated Commitment Sunday. Not only did we make our commitments for 2019, we enjoyed an Engagement Fair so members could discover new ways of engaging with the church, we celebrated our Laity Service Awards, our children's choirs help lead us in worship at 11:00am, we shared in a meal with our friends at Love Thy Neighbor and the day wrapped up with our new member class, Starting Point.
Rise Against Hunger
On Sunday, October 14, 101 Centenary volunteers packed 20,000 meals in 2 hours. Since 2013, Centenary has sent over 130,000 meals to our brother and sisters across the globe. Annually, 820 million people go hungry. Daily, 66 million children around the world go to school hungry. Our partnership with Rise Against Hunger helps to eliminate worldwide hunger by 2030.
Worship in the Park
On Sunday, October 7, Centenary returned to Tanglewood for our fifth annual Worship in the Park. As we celebrated the combined worship experience by blending all musical styles and celebrating world communion Sunday, our congregation joined as one through singing, prayer and hearing the inspired proclamation of message. Following worship, over 500 congregants enjoyed a picnic on the grounds. Be sure to join us next year on October 6 when we return to the park.
Blessing of the Animals
On Saturday, September 22, we had a great morning of blessing our four-legged friends. We partnered with AARF as our clergy offered prayers for these special family members.
Vacation Bible School
The week has come and come! We hope you will enjoy just a few highlights of all the events of the week as we conclude being "Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus."
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible school is underway and our Sanctuary and campus are packed with 150 kids and a wonderful team of teachers and volunteers. This week we are "shipwrecked" but we know we will be "rescued by Jesus."
Senior Adult Luncheon
Our amazing senior adults are always having a great time and welcoming wonderful folks as their guest speakers to the monthly luncheon. This month, they welcomed our new Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. P. Glenn Kinken III our new Associate Minister of Adult Formation and Education, Rev. Bret Cogan.
