Make music to the LORD With the harp and singing.
Psalm 98:5
While we don't have harps (usually) at Centenary, we do make great music. Come and make beautiful music along with us! Singing and handbell groups welcome children and adults of all ages.
Music has been central to the worship of God from the earliest days of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Genesis speaks of singing and playing instruments. Both Matthew and Mark report that Jesus and the disciples sang a hymn before they went out to the Mount of Olives. Paul, in writing to the Ephesians, advises worshipers to "Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord." Centenary is a church that cherishes and nurtures the best in sacred music.

Making Music Changes Lives!
What people say about music at Centenary
Having grown up in a small rural church, I had anxieties about joining Centenary because of its size; I was afraid of being lost in the masses. But when I joined the choir, I quickly found a warm group of people who welcomed me into a caring, tight-knit community. To be sure, the incredible musical tradition of this church speaks to my soul in a profound way, but the sense of family that exists within the choir is a constant reminder that God is surely with us always.
- Jeffrey Swaim
I was a voice major in college and before that, a church organist from the age of 14. I love singing, choral music, and church, so the Chancel Choir was a natural for me. However, I couldn't have hoped for a more loving and caring family. At the time that I joined Centenary, I was a young widow with two young children and 900 miles from my family in Michigan. I can never repay the kindness, caring, and encouragement these beautiful Christians gave
me.

Singing in the Chancel Choir under the direction of David Pegg is a joyous and worshipful experience for me. Even the "work" of weekly rehearsals at the end of a long day is rejuvenating for both body and spirit. The cooperation between David Pegg and accompanist Ray Ebert provides a comfortable atmosphere for learning and for fun. Fellow choir members serve as extended family, and we not only sing together--we also worship together, share in each other's joys and sorrows, and enjoy frequent opportunities for socializing (preferably with refreshments!).
The Music Ministry at Centenary enriches my life immeasurably, adding beauty and depth to the worship experience. It provides inspriation, solace, and instruction, and helps unite generations.
