Spring Art Show The summer 2008 visual art show, "American Summer," is now hanging in the first floor gallery at Centenary. The art, created by Centenary members and their family members, depicts the joys of summer in a variety of ways. "American Summer" is sponsored by the Faith and Arts Ministry and is on display through mid-August.
The recently restored oil painting "Cathedral Doors" by Grace Freund is now on display by Room 120 (1st floor). This painting is part of the Tucker Kimball Collection.
Great Books
Starting next fall, the Centenary Great Books discussion group will start the Fourth Series of its Adult Great Books Program. Great Books discussion groups are a forum for thoughtful adults to read and discuss significant works of fiction, philosophy, political science, poetry, and drama. Discussions are lively, engaging, friendly, sometimes contentious, probing, enlighteningand a good deal of fun. This coming year's list of readings includes works by Shakespeare, Schopenhauer, Euripedes, Weber, Molière, Gibbon, Mill, Shaw, St. Augustine, Plato, Montaigne, Diderot and Gogol. The Series will also cover "The Book of Job" and The Federalist Papers.

Poetry Workshop
Award-winning poet and Davidson College professor Tony Abbott will conduct a 6-week long poetry workshop starting in September. Aspiring and established poets are encouraged to participate. Tony will conduct a presentation and offer critiques of participants' work. Only 10 seats are available so early registration is encouraged.

Memoirs Workshop
Starting this Fall, Mary Jane Pishko and Helen King* will lead Front Porch MemoriesCreative alternatives to help collect your family stories. A notebook with memory prompts will be provided. Only 10 seats are available so early registration is encouraged.
