Power Lunch provides a special time each week at Centenary for members as well as friends from the community to join together in fellowship, music and worship. We hope you'll join us soon!
Held in the Church Auditorium - accessible from 4 ½ Street - each Wednesday from Noon to 12:45 p.m., Power Lunch includes a tasty buffet at an affordable price. Martha Bassett, a well-known local singer, entertains participants with songs from her CDs that include Shaker music as well as tunes unique to early American Appalachia.
Following lunch and music, Dr. Michael Brown, Centenary's senior minister, or another knowledgeable speaker presents a brief, faith-based meditation. Recent themes have included four to six weeks on Biblical studies (The Gospel of Mark), theological questions (The Apostles' Creed), and personal life issues (Handling Life's Crises).
Upcoming topics along with menus are listed in the Church's weekly calendar, posted at this Web site or call the Church at 724-6311.
Samples of books, tapes and other materials from the Church Book Store & Resource Center are also available for review during Power Lunch. In addition, the Center is open following the meditation for browsing, to purchase an item, or as a place for personal quiet time.
